Sloth's Territory

Sloth's Territory, located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica, is a 13-hectare natural paradise where you can enjoy daytime tours, night tours, and birdwatching. This private reserve, protected and managed by the Rodríguez Pérez family, features a 1,300-meter trail along the Habana River. At Sloth’s Territory, you can spot two- and three-toed sloths, along with a wide variety of birds like toucans, tanagers, and hummingbirds. Ten hectares of the reserve are undergoing reforestation, while the remaining three form an authentic sanctuary of local flora and fauna. My name is Keilor Rodríguez Pérez, co-founder of Sloth’s Territory since 2018. I was born and raised in La Fortuna de San Carlos, and I’ve been fascinated by wildlife since childhood, especially sloths that showed up on our property. Today, alongside my family, I work to combine conservation with sustainable tourism, offering unforgettable experiences in the heart of Costa Rica’s rainforest.

I’m Oscar Rodríguez Castro, co-founder of Sloth’s Territory since its inception in 2018. At 59, teaching and learning about the rich flora and fauna of La Fortuna remains a dream come true. It brings me great joy to welcome visitors from all over, inviting them to discover and appreciate the natural treasure we’ve reforested and protected right here at home.
